GI Disorders & Surgical Care

Overview

Problems such as ulcers, blockage of the intestine, bleeding and growths in the stomach or bowel need careful investigation, and some of them need an operation. As a general and endo-laparoscopic surgeon trained in GI endoscopy, Dr. Sohel-Uzzaman assesses these conditions and plans treatment, which may be medicine, endoscopy or surgery.

Common symptoms

  • Long-standing abdominal pain or bloating
  • Repeated vomiting or not being able to keep food down
  • Blood in vomit or stool
  • Unexplained weight loss or loss of appetite

When to see a doctor

  • Severe abdominal pain, a swollen abdomen, or not passing stool or gas (seek emergency care)

If you have severe pain, vomiting, fever or heavy bleeding, go to the nearest emergency department.
