Problems such as ulcers, blockage of the intestine, bleeding and growths in the stomach or bowel need careful investigation, and some of them need an operation. Common symptoms
- Long-standing abdominal pain or bloating
- Repeated vomiting or not being able to keep food down
- Blood in vomit or stool
- Unexplained weight loss or loss of appetite
When to see a doctor
- Severe abdominal pain, a swollen abdomen, or not passing stool or gas (seek emergency care)
